My Editing Philosophy

Bird sanctuaries are extraordinary places. They're designed to protect birds while also fostering growth, healing, and vitality. Similarly, I strive to create a story sanctuary—a place where authors feel safe sharing their manuscripts and trust me to provide balanced feedback, supply tools for improvement, and help strategize for revision. The editor-author relationship is symbiotic, unified by the common goal of strengthening a story for its release into the world.

During the onboarding process, I'll ask you to fill out an intake form. I use this as a guide while I edit, ensuring that I tailor my critique to your specific needs. I have a hands-on approach, and my suggestions are direct and specific. My editorial letters are organized and professional but presented in a warm, conversational tone. It's my aim to draw your attention to opportunities for growth in the manuscript without overwhelming you or stunting your creative process. While my input is plentiful, it's never forceful. I affirm every author's right to stet or accept my suggestions; after all, the story belongs to you!

I look forward to helping you refine your writing, story execution, and overall technique, while honing and preserving your authorial voice. I view myself not as a literary gatekeeper but as a partner in bringing each story closer to its intended audience. Welcome to my story sanctuary. I hope it provides a secure place for you to land while we work on giving your story wings to fly.
